About This Special Issue
Dependability is the ability of an item to perform one or several required functions under given conditions. Nowadays, the dependability of an industrial plant deals with various issues: technical, political, organizational, conceptual, etc. It allows increasing productivity and safety. Thus, dependability includes the science of failures, uncertainties and hazards by fully exploiting all the information relating to unwanted events and help users create dynamic appropriate strategies for their industrial asset. In this context, the aim of this special issue is to gather researchers and collect their contributions with regards to the development and application of dependability in the industry. Both theoretical contributions and papers on practical applications are welcomed, to highlight the potential, the limitations, the criticalities and difficulties of dependability in the industry, and the needs for further developments.
