About This Special Issue
As public health interventions to minimize the spread of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) took effect, emergency department visits moderated even in cities hit hard by the first wave of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic. How do we best care for people with non-COVID-related disease? For some, new risks may warrant reconsideration of usual standards of care. For others, the need to protect caregivers and preserve critical care capacity may factor into decisions. These dramatic shifts in emergency department use raise questions about changes in care-seeking behavior among the public when experiencing acute illness and the recalibration that will occur in the months to come while we await an effective treatment for or vaccine against SARS-CoV-2. We are asking if it is possible to maintain high quality care at the department of emergency despite COVID-19 pandemic and how to continue diagnosing and treating non-COVID disorders.
Focus of our proposed special issue is to focus again on epidemiology, diagnosis and treatment of non- COVID disease at the department of emergency during COVID-19 pandemic.
Aims and Scope:
  1. SARS-CoV-2
  2. Emergency
  3. Public health
  4. Management
  5. Prognosis
  6. Treatment
