About This Special Issue
The economic crisis in Europe has two aspects that have not been sufficiently discussed: a) how the subsequent crisis of values shaped the landscape in society to allow the establishment of the crisis and b) the new social phenomena that the crisis allowed to emerge (the “indignant” at the squares, the role of the social media etc). With the case of Greece as a focal point, in this volume we will attempt to study, from different scientific perspectives, not only the more general problem of the socioeconomic crisis and its impact but also the special aspects mentioned above. The aim of the studies is not exhausted in “understanding” but also targets “change”: the recourses, which for now remain abstract, are primarily related to the revision of values in a world still in confusion. The new social phenomena we will attempt to approach could possibly become a springboard for the reconstruction of values. The Greek case constitutes an important example so that the aforementioned approach will have a practical effect.

Aims and Scope:

1. Philosophy as a value bearer in the new era.
2. The philosophical supervision of the (new) social phenomena.
3. The relationship between man and nature and economic relationships during the crisis.
4. The downgrading of Education resulting from the economic recession.
5. The new social groups in the social media.
6. The rise of the extreme right as a symptom of the crisis in values.
7. Political analysis of the socioeconomic crisis in Greece and Europe.
8. The future and the new “utopias”.
