About This Special Issue
Oil Field Chemicals And Petrochemicals such as drilling fluids, drilling muds, gravel packing fluids, hydraulic packing fluids, polymers and other chemicals employed for Oil and Gas exploration projects worldwide. There exists a glaring need for all these products to meet the required International standards and specifications, therefore, research and development on these substances is on the increase. These products also include chemicals that are effective in flow assurance by controlling scaling and corrosion in pipelines without impeding the flow of oil or gas.

The use of local materials as effective substitutes for imported oilfield chemical is highly encouraging, and this can only be the result of vigorous and elaborate research. Many natural resource-rich countries are diversifying and transforming their economies using the hydrocarbon value chain for wealth creation. This has resulted in an increased interest in the downstream oil and gas sectors, especially the gas, petroleum refining, petrochemical and fertilizer industries, which provide the catalyst that ensures the country’s growth and sustainable development through diversifying the revenue stream and growth in other sectors rather than continuing to depend on costly importation and the resultant drain on foreign exchange earnings.

Abstract: The peculiar nature of the offshore environment has necessitated the need for the Oil and Gas industry to develop durable subsea technologies and better hydrate inhibitors to prevent hydrate formation and assure flow. This paper discusses the design, fabrication and validation of a laboratory flow loop for hydrate studies. The laboratory loop is a ... Show More
