About This Special Issue
Phytochemicals are produced by higher plants as secondary metabolites. The secondary metabolites have plenty of ecological roles. These natural products are essential in surviving the plant by overcoming against the various threats i.e. insects, environmental challenges, plant-plant interaction/competition (allelopathy), etc. Application of medicinal plants has a history as long as humanity’s age for treating diseases and improving disorders. It is reported that over 10,000 different phytochemicals possess potential preventive or supplementary effects on various human diseases. It is claimed that half of whole discovered drugs are made by natural products or their derivatives. Furthermore, undesired side effects of these herbal remedies are recorded much lesser that the chemically base drugs. The various biological activities of plants and their isolated phytochemicals have been previously evaluated and nowadays are still assessing more effects. We invite the researchers to contribute the original research and review articles regarding medicinal plants and phytochemicals. It is desired to include the discovery and assess the biological and pharmacological effects of phytochemicals, also report the essential oil constituents.

The potential topics (not limited) include:

Aim and scope:

Medicinal plants
Natural products
Phytochemicals
Volatile oil constituent
Novel secondary metabolites
Phytochemical analysis
Biological activities
Pharmacological assay
