An Analysis of User-Generated Content of Hotel Customer Experience: Case of Ethiopian Skylight Hotel

Abstract: This article examines user-generated content regarding Ethiopian Skylight Hotel, which stands out as the top-rated hotel in Ethiopia according to TripAdvisor's ranking system. The analysis draws upon reviews from Google and TripAdvisor, supplemented by contributions from other platforms like Booking.com, Agoda, and Expedia, totaling 4,714 comments from January 2021 to August 2024. Over eleven thousand mentions were identified, and more than 85% of these reflect a positive sentiment, signaling a high level of customer satisfaction. The average rating for overall satisfaction sits at an impressive 4.5 out of 5, with over 78% and 10% of reviewers deeming the hotel as excellent and very good respectively. Key factors driving this satisfaction include gastronomy, service quality, room standards, staff performance, location, cleanliness, facilities, reception experience, value for money, and overall ambiance. The findings suggest that while effective delivery of these service elements enhances customer satisfaction, failures in execution can lead to dissatisfaction.

Abstract: This study explores the rising significance of green hotels in response to growing environmental concerns among consumers. The transition towards eco-friendly practices in the hotel industry is driven by the need to mitigate negative environmental impacts, align with consumer preferences, and maintain economic advantages. The study aims to develop and test a model to comprehend factors influencing visitors' behavior in green hotels, focusing on perceived value, cost, trust, and perceived consumer effectiveness. Existing literature extensively examines sustainable tourism, focusing on green tourism and its impact on residents' quality of life in tourist destinations. The study addresses the scarcity of empirical frameworks and literature reviews on Bangladeshi tourists' preferences for green hotels, considering factors such as environmental awareness, green concern, and green trust. This study focused on tourists, both local and foreign, who have visited different places and green hotels in Bangladesh within the last five years. The study is identified as quantitative, utilizing primary data collection through a questionnaire. Prior to hypothesis testing, the parametric assumptions will be examined using SPSS to confirm the fulfillment of regression assumptions. The study will conclude with the assessment of hypotheses through SmartPLS, employing bootstrapping techniques for comprehensive analysis. This study's unique findings contradict the straight relationship between perceived cost and purchase behavioral intention. The investigation should be expanded to other parts of the world in order to demonstrate the model's validity. There is a rare chance to broaden the research and concentrate on additional constructs of green hotel purchase behavior. Therefore, more research is needed to examine the general hotel purchasing patterns of Bangladesh's large tourist population.

Abstract: Well-being and yoga activities, which are among the types of tourism that have attracted increasing attention among people in recent years due to their various benefits, also have a place in the field of tourism as they have an entertainment aspect and are considered as leisure activities. These activities are mostly visible as participation in yoga tourism. There are tools and academic resources that help examine the motivations that lead individuals to these tourism activities. As it is important to determine the motivating reasons to join tourism, specifically yoga tourism activities, at this point, motivation theories can be supportive to understand tourists' attitudes and behaviors towards travel. Hence, these theories are adopted to understand some underlying causes of yoga travelers to join yoga tourism. The aim of this study is to evaluate the motivations of tourists participating in yoga tourism, which is shaped around entertainment and spiritual purposes, in terms of these theories. Based on results, it is interpreted that motivation theories offer significant insights for tourism professionals in the yoga tourism sector on how to develop and implement p strategies to serve a variety of tourist needs.

Abstract: The study interrogates the environmental impacts of illegal gold mining (IGM) and its threats to ecotourism development in the Amansie South District of Ghana. Environmental degradation as a result of illegal mining is a threat to the livelihood of individuals, ecotourism development and countries and the attainment of sustainable development goals (SDGs), especially Goal 15 (to protect, restore and promote sustainable use of terrestrial ecosystems, sustainably manage forests, combat desertification, and halt and reverse land degradation and halt biodiversity loss). Illegal gold mining is not new in Ghana, but miners' introduction of heavy machines is destroying forest and water resources. The study's main objective was to interrogate the environmental impacts of illegal gold mining (IGM) in Ghana and its threat to ecotourism development. To achieve the objective of the study, the qualitative research approach was used. Exploratory and descriptive research designs were employed for the study. A total of 26 representatives from government agencies, community leaders, and illegal miners in the Amansie South District Assembly in the Ashanti Region of Ghana were interviewed. For the different research objectives, content and thematic analyses were conducted. The study found that illegal mining has resulted in the destruction of the natural environment, especially forest and water resources, undermining ecotourism development. Local communities should be educated on the long-term environmental impacts of illegal mining and the benefits of ecotourism to the local economy and sustainable development. This research work adds to the existing literature on the environmental impact of illegal mining and contributes to the ongoing discussions on the threat of illegal mining to the environment in Ghana.

Abstract: This study investigates the potential of developing creative tourism on Kish Island, Iran, focusing on its viability as a sustainable tourism destination within the Kish Free Zone. Creative tourism offers visitors opportunities to actively engage in cultural and innovative experiences, fostering collaboration between tourists and local communities to create unique tourism products. The research highlights how creativity can enhance competitive advantages, stimulate economic growth, and support cultural preservation. Drawing comparisons with the Nazaré Criativa project in Portugal, the study suggests that governmental support could amplify such initiatives on Kish Island. Utilizing Geographic Information Systems (GIS) analysis, the research evaluates ecotourism potential by integrating ecological, social, and economic indicators for sustainable planning. The methodology combines qualitative and quantitative approaches, including literature reviews, field observations, and Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) using SmartPLS software. The results reveal that resources significantly impact tourism development (t=25.727), while organizational factors drive creative attractions (t=2.936). Infrastructure positively influences development (t=1.704), but has a negative effect on creativity (-0.228), indicating the need for balanced management. The study proposes a conceptual model for e-tourism development, emphasizing a comprehensive tourism portal to enhance accessibility and the visitor experience. Commercialization models (e.g., Rourke, Song, and Gibson) are analyzed to transform creative ideas into marketable products, supporting local entrepreneurship. The findings underscore the importance of infrastructure, organizational leadership, and cultural heritage in fostering creative tourism. Recommendations include leveraging Kish Island’s natural and historical assets, integrating technology, and promoting local handicraft workshops to attract diverse tourists. This approach aims to empower local communities, ensure environmental sustainability, and position Kish Island as a leading creative tourism destination by 2039.

The rise of food tourism has heightened demand for authenticity and diversity, challenging chefs to innovate while preserving tradition. Health concerns, including dietary restrictions and food safety, add layers of complexity to menu design and preparation. Additionally, the digital era presents both possibilities and challenges; while social media enhances visibility and customer engagement, it also intensifies competition and scrutiny. Navigating these multifaceted challenges requires culinary professionals to balance creativity, sustainability, and business acumen, ensuring that gastronomic experiences remain vibrant and relevant in a swiftly evolving world. The study examines contemporary culinary experiences over the past decade, focusing on recent trends and developments in the gastronomic field. Research Question- What are the key contemporary issues and challenges faced by culinary professionals in providing enriching gastronomic experiences? The research employs a hybrid methodology, integrating descriptive discussions with chefs, restaurateurs, and food industry experts, with quantitative analysis of industry reports and consumer surveys. Data collection includes case studies of successful culinary establishments and analysis of social media trends. Results: There is an increasing focus on sourcing locally and using organic ingredients to reduce environmental impact. Chefs are challenged to balance traditional culinary practices with innovative approaches to satisfy the needs of food tourism. Increasing dietary restrictions and food safety concerns are influencing menu design and food preparation processes. Social media enhances visibility and customer engagement but also increases competition and public scrutiny. Culinary professionals must integrate sustainability, cultural authenticity, and health considerations into their practices to remain relevant. The online environment demands a thoughtful approach to utilizing social platforms for reputation management and customer engagement.
