Abstract: Increase in waste generation has brought alongside serious environmental challenges associated with improper waste disposal, especially domestic waste which are often discarded in different ways. Hence, towards a sustainable human health and her environment this study investigated and identified issues influencing waste management in Oba-Ile, Akure, Ondo State, Nigeria. Both primary and secondary data types were employed in the study; primary data were collected through the administration of questionnaires and personal observation was carried out. Secondary data were sourced from existing literature; which include published and unpublished materials, dissertation and term papers and also base map of the study area. Data collected were analysed using descriptive statistical methods which included frequency counts demonstrated with tables and charts. Findings from the study shows most of the respondents give their waste to waste collectors for disposal while others dispose their wastes themselves (either by burning, use of incinerator, dispose in nearby bush, dispose into drainage or by burying); the fee charged by waste collectors is moderate but more people will like to patronize the waste collectors if the fee is reduced; it takes respondents minimal time (to and fro) to reach the nearest dumping unit as most of them spend less than 5minutes; the major problem encountered by residents of the study area is inadequate storage facilities; lack of technical know-how, inadequate/inappropriate waste disposal vehicles, poor customer service, inconsistency of waste collectors and high charges; waste collectors come to collect waste once in two weeks but in an interview with a resident in the study area, waste collectors fail to come (sometimes) which makes waste accumulate resulting into an unhealthy environment. The study hereby recommends public enlightenment and education, enforcement of certain law, increase in waste collection frequency, agency in charge of waste management in Ondo State should introduce initiatives on how waste should be collected, a recycling unit should be designed in the estate so that the waste generated will be recycled and produce some better materials that would be useful for the entire humanity.

Spiritual Accounting Attributes and Sustainable Good Governance in Nigeria

Abstract: This is study was conducted out of the political, economic, social, technological, environmental, legal, educational, religious and security (PESTELERS) crises experience in Nigeria since the return of democratic government. Without doubt, there is a breakdown in the system and governance of Nigeria. Spiritual accounting attributes and sustainable good governance was examined. Descriptive and exploratory survey designs were adopted in this study. The population for the study was 1503 ICAN Fellow Conferees (FCAs) during the 21st Conferment of Fellowship Status at Lagos State on May 20, 2023. Four hundred (400) respondents were selected using purposive sampling technique. The data were obtained from structured questionnaire and were analysed using descriptive statistics and related t-test statistics. The findings revealed that, the exhibition of psycho-spiritual accounting attributes and socio-spiritual accounting attributes will significantly influence sustainable good governance in Nigeria as showed in the weighted means scores of 4.61 and tcal. 34.87; and that the spiritual accounting attributes exhibition by leaders and those in ‘corridors of power’ is the key to sustainable good governance in Nigeria. It was concluded that, Nigeria will know no good governance until those in governance exhibit spiritual accounting attributes (psycho spiritual accounting attributes and socio-spiritual accounting attributes). Recommendations were made that, all persons aspiring for heads of government and those in leadership at all levels in Nigeria should rate themselves to determine whether they possess both psycho-spiritual accounting attributes and socio-spiritual accounting attributes for sustainable good governance and all leaders should be well trained on spiritual accounting core values by their regulatory bodies; redesigning the course specifications to include spiritual accounting core values in behavioural accounting as well as making it a part of NYSC orientations and work place beliefs for spiritual accounting intelligence.

Abstract: Land degradation is critical problem agriculture production in the Highlands of Ethiopia resulting significant reductions of agriculture GDP. The cause land degradation was resettlement, plough on steep slopes, deforestation, overgrazing and increase of demand of firewood. Therefore, these paper review on the on role and challenge adoption sustainable land management practices in highland of Ethiopia. In order to mitigate ongoing soil erosion and nutrient loss in the productive agricultural high land’ s of the country, the government of Ethiopia a sustainable land management program since 2008. The challenges of the adoption sustainable land management practices in Ethiopia are open grazing, poor implementation of regulation and by law, land fragmentation and lack of sense of ownership for the soil and water conservation structures. The role of sustainable land management to address environmental problems, increase agricultural productivity, crucial of minimize of land degradation, and rehabilitated degraded area. Should be recommendation to Policy makers should take into consideration the challenge of adoption of SLM practice when designing and implementing introduced Sustainable land management practices.
